Installation Surfaces & Methods
Pool fencing installation requirements vary by surface type. Sleeve depth, anchoring method, and long-term stability depend on the surface the fence is installed into. Reviewing surface-specific requirements before drilling is critical—especially if you are transitioning from another pool fence system.
Concrete Deck
Concrete-based surfaces are the most common installation type for removable mesh pool fencing. Tile and stone installations are treated as concrete installs only when a structural concrete slab exists beneath the surface and is at minimum, 3 inches deep.
- Standard deck sleeves are used when minimum slab depth requirements are met
- Accurate drilling and proper spacing remain critical for long-term stability
- Fastest, cleanest and easiest surface to install into
Pavers
Paver installations require special consideration. Because pavers are not structural and can shift independently, standard 4-inch deck sleeves are not recommended for long-term fence stability. Stone and tile decks that do not have a cement subsurface should be installed as a paver installation.
- Extended PVC sleeves are required for paver-style installations
- Gate posts, corner post post, and angled fence post drilling angles are especially critical
- Shallow sleeves may feel secure initially but will loosen over time as pavers shift
Dirt, Grass & Turf
Grass and dirt installations require a different anchoring approach than concrete deck-based installs. These installations rely on ground sleeves or concrete footings to provide structural support.
- Extended PVC sleeves and/or poured concrete footings are required
- Fence layout and spacing must be planned before ordering
- Installation differs significantly from deck-mounted fencing
What's Included & What's Not
All-Safe products are sold à la carte, allowing installers to build each order based on the specific layout, surface type, and application.
There are no bundled kits unless explicitly noted. Each product includes the hardware required to install that specific item, but complete fence systems are built by selecting individual components.
What's Included When Ordering
Pool Fence Sections
Pool fence sections are the foundation of every installation. Some in the pool fence industry also refer to them as “panels”.
Each pre-assembled fence section includes:
- 15-foot long mesh with border panel
- Poles spaced every 36 inches
- All required components for section installation
- 6 - Standard deck sleeves (for concrete installations)
- 6 - Standard deck plugs/caps
- 1- Section connection latch (hook & eye)
Custom Spacing: Custom spacing (anything other than 36-inches on center) can be completed by ordering individual fence components: “Poles” & “Fence Mesh”
Self-Closing Gates
(Ordered as Individual Components)
Pool fence gates are not sold as a single kit*. A complete gate requires three separate selections:
Gate Frame
Select based on height and frame style
Gate Posts (Qty 2)
- Must match the gate frame height and paint style.
Gate Latch & Hinge Kit
- Includes hinges and self-closing latch hardware
- Selected based on your latch preference and price point (D&D Technologies or SafeTech)
All three components are required to complete a functioning gate.
*Complete Gate Kits are available if you are installing Combo E Black Peg fencing
Specialty Posts & Layout Components
In addition to standard fence sections and gates, All-Safe offers a wide range of specialty components designed to handle real-world layouts, elevation changes, and non-standard installations.
Each individual item includes the hardware required to install that specific component, but may not represent a complete fence system on its own.
Round Terminating Posts
Used to finish fence runs or create clean turns in grass, dirt, or non-deck installations
Corner Posts
Designed for tight or 45-90 degree turns
Step Poles / Transition Poles
Used when fence height or elevation changes occur along the run
Angled Mesh with Sewn Border
Available for installations with grade changes, slopes, or steps, allowing the fence to maintain proper ground clearance to prevent climb-over hazards
What's Not Included
Unless explicitly selected, the following are not included with pool fence sections or gate components:
- Installation tools, including drills, core bits, layout tools, or specialty equipment
- Labor or installation services
- Additional parts or hardware required for non-concrete installations, including:
- Paver decks
- Grass or dirt installations
- Multi-level or stepped decks
- Sloped or uneven surfaces
If your installation surface is anything other than a standard concrete deck, additional components may be required to ensure proper anchoring and long-term stability.
Likewise, installations involving steps, elevation changes, or transitions may require specialty posts, angled mesh panels, or other layout-specific components.
Installers should evaluate the installation surface and layout before ordering to ensure the correct parts are selected.
Compatibility & Switching from Other Brands
All-Safe Pool Fencing is designed to support professional installations across a wide range of layouts and surfaces. While many removable mesh pool fence systems share similar components, compatibility between brands is not always guaranteed and should be confirmed before ordering.
Installers transitioning from another manufacturer are encouraged to review system differences or contact All-Safe support for confirmation prior to purchase.
How to Calculate What to Order
All-Safe Pool Fencing orders are built by calculating required components based on layout, surface type, and site conditions. This section outlines the standard planning process used to determine what components are needed before placing a wholesale order.
Completing these steps first helps ensure accurate quantities, proper component selection, and a smoother installation.
When you are ready to place your order, you can do so via the Shop Page or Fence Quick Order Page
Step 1: Measure the Fence Layout
Begin by measuring the total linear footage of the pool area to be fenced.
This measurement should follow the intended fence line, including turns and corners.
Confirm:
- Total perimeter length
- Fence height requirement (4 ft or 5 ft)
- Locations for gates, corners, or turns
Fence sections are pre-assembled and sold in standard 15-foot lengths.
Step 2: Identify Gate Requirements
Each self-closing gate occupies 3 linear feet of fence space.
- Subtract 3 feet for each gate from the total measured length.
Example:
- Total measured fence length: 78 ft
- Number of gates: 1
- 78 ft − 3 ft = 75 ft of fence required
Determine which type of Gate Post & Latch you prefer to install.
- Rectangular Post (most common)
- Gate Post Double Square
- Gate Post Double Pole (only available in classic paint)
- Latch: SafeTech or D&D Technologies
Step 3: Determine Fence Section Quantities
All-Safe fence sections are sold in standard 15-foot sections.
- Divide the adjusted fence length by 15
- Round up to the nearest whole section
Example:
- 75 ÷ 15 = 5 sections
- Total sections to order: 5
If the calculation results in a partial section, always round up to ensure adequate coverage.
Installer Tip: Always round up when calculating fence sections. Extra length allows for layout flexibility and prevents shortages during installation.
Step 4: Confirm Installation Surface(s)
Installation surface determines sleeve type and additional components.
Identify whether the fence will be installed into:
- Concrete or concrete-based surfaces
- Pavers
- Grass or dirt
- Multi-level or stepped decks
Non-concrete installations and elevation changes may require specialty components.
Step 5: Add Surface-Specific & Specialty Components
Based on the surface and layout, determine whether the following are required:
- PVC sleeves
- Concrete footings
- Corner posts or terminating posts
- Step poles or transition poles
- Angled mesh panels for elevation changes
- Preferred section latch options (e.g., Quick Lock Latch)
These items are added only when required by the installation conditions.
Step 6: Review & Verify Before Ordering
Before submitting an order, confirm:
- Fence section quantities
- Gate component completeness
- Sleeve type and quantity (standard sleeves & plugs/caps come with all components)
- Surface-specific requirements
- Compatibility when replacing or expanding an existing system
Important Planning Notes
- All-Safe products are sold à la carte
- Fence sections and gates are calculated separately
- Each item includes hardware required to install that component
- Installation tools and labor are not included
- Surface evaluation should be completed prior to ordering
- For assistance with layout planning or component selection, contact All-Safe support before placing the order.
Safety & Compliance Notes
All-Safe Pool Fencing systems are designed to meet applicable safety standards when installed correctly and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and local regulations.
Installers are responsible for ensuring each installation complies with ASTM requirements, local building codes, and jurisdictional regulations applicable to the project site.
ASTM Compliance
ASTM compliance for removable mesh pool fencing consists of two equally important parts:
Products Compliance
All-Safe removable mesh pool fencing products are designed to meet the requirements of ASTM F2286
- Fence height and construction
- Mesh and barrier performance
- Gate design and hardware compatibility
- Self-closing and self-latching gate requirements
When installed using approved components, All-Safe Products meet ASTM product standards
Installation Compliance
ASTM Compliance is also dependent on proper installation
- Maximum ground clearance
- Post spacing and section alignment
- Gate placement, swing direction, and latch height
- Proper anchoring and sleeve depth
- Stability across surface types and elevation changes
Installation compliance is determined by site conditions and installer execution, not the product alone.
Installer Responsibility
While All-Safe products are ASTM-compliant by design, final compliance depends on correct installation.
Installers must:
- Evaluate site conditions prior to installation
- Select appropriate components for the surface type
- Follow ASTM guidelines and manufacturer instructions
- Verify compliance with local code requirements
Failure to follow installation requirements may result in non-compliant installations, even when compliant products are used.
